A freind of mine pitched the idea to me while I was bitching about the large cost of a good turbo setup. He plainly stated, "make your own." Like most others, I laughed at him, but he was dead serious.
I asked for further explination and he proceeded to tell me of his strange, yet pretty good idea. In a nutshell, be basically said to redo teh blower of your A/C and connect the hose to the engine end of your Air Intake. The stronger blower would blow a lot of extremely cold air into your engine.
I know it sounds funny, but I kept thinking about it, and the more I do, the more likely it sounds. Only problem I think would be the filtering of the air, it might not be filtered as well not going though an actual air filter.
What do ya'll think?

I don't know what other people think but IMO IT WILL NOT WORK, well it will work, but it will not do you no good,
to put it in numbers imagine you invest a dollar, that's right $1
and for every dollar you get $.06 you invested.
So put down $1000 and recieve 60, TOTAL (Not 1060, just 60)!!!
it sounds good but you will make work your engine more to achieve (in this case) almost nothing.
Don't get me wrong this is how superchargers work in a nutshell, but YOU DO get something in return, POWA!!!!

actually what you'll have is a rube goldberg supercharger.
think about it: you are using engine power to:-drive a compressor-which compresses refrigerient-which heats it-then allowed to be cooled by the outside air in the condenser-then it flows through the expansion valve-which cools the refrigerient-finally it passes through the inside the evaporator-the air flowing outside the evaporator is cooled by the refrigerent-which increases the density of the air!

The fact is not that colder air wouldn't make a difference, but you have to consider how much air an engine takes in. Chances are the A/C system would have a hard time trying to keep the air cool. Not to mention it's already sucking up power.
