Hmm. That piece in your pic looks decent. Why are you not purchasing it? Is the product just crap? Sorry, I'm looking for a dump pipe as well. I know that A2R inc on Ebay sells one for around $60 with gaskets that I is supposed to clear the steering column. The main benefit to having one made is you can inspect the weld quality and see previous examples. I was looking at the one on Ebay for $60 with the intention of, if it has bad welds I can either fix them or use it as a template. HTH. I'm in the same situation as you.

Well if you made yours like mine.Stock pipe with a cutout section, re welded up.Yes, you will gain flow, from a custom piece.Right now there is a big restriction in my pipe from the inverted piece of pipe welded back in to cover the hole.

DO NOT BUY THAT SS AUTOCRAP JUNKIT DOES NOT FITI don't know about the stock r32 Xmember but at least with Top Hat mounts, it does not fit.

Sil240 is correct about the fitment issues. I asked A2R about any fittment issues and they said that they will not work with TopHat mounts and possibly McKinney mounts, but R32 / R33 should be fine.

AFAIK nothing from EBay fits really, if it does it is by a fraction of an inch and isnt really safe. The only safe way to go is to get a fnage and make one yourself, or have one made.

I spent a wee bit-o-money on a dump pipe for my RB25... But its hot. I had it custom made by AM Performance in Austrailia. The guy does great work and is really great to deal with. I can send you info if you want.

OH! I forgot to mention: he deals with the steering column issue. Which is the biggest problem with most all of these dump tubes you guys are looking at. The wastegate tube hits

He only made my turbo dump/wastegate dump (which he calls the "screamer") the actual downpipe is mckinney.

You have an email ( couldn't figure out how to PM you...)

We actually fabbed up a turbo elbow/wastegate dump for my swap. Cost me about $40-50 for piping/flanges, and some high-temp paint. Turned out really well, I have plenty of clearance around the steering column and the wastegate dump is positioned very nicely. Here are some pics.

Another pic. The welds were a little sloppy, but it was a REALLY late night and we were all tired.

rb240det,

What diameter (id) did you use for your dump pipe? also, what wastegate is that and what modifications would need to be made for a 25 as opposed to your 20? Thanks!

that looks like a DSM turbo of some type, so Id assume it would work on any RB20/25 car as long as it had that same turbo/manifold.

the am perfomance pipe works well and sounds awesome, a buddy of mine (bronzemfp) got one when the guy started producing them and helped him get the current iteration right so it clears everything.richard, that turboelbow looks gread, def a huge improvement over what it used to be, might want to add some bracing for the wastegate tho, that is alot of weight for that little tube to support.

Yes I did. He was awesome to work with. Super helpful guy.

RB240, that thing looks like it came out awesome. Thats probably what I should have done to save some money...

RB240detQuestion.....Did you take your turbo apart and remove the wastegate flapper door? That's what I'm guessing you did, because you have a external gate on you pipe.

I've been interested in this right here:http://www.atpturbo.com/root/r...5.htm

Eventually when I upgrade the turbo, I wanna get that wastegate and stick with an internal gated style turbo.

I'm not looking for huge amounts of power, but I'd like to keep the engine bay kinda clear

Lonestar,

I used a 1 3/4" dump tube for the wastegate. Skillzilla is correct, the exhaust housing is actually a Mitsu style. It actually worked out fairly well. But yeah it uses a T3 flange, so it'll work on any T3 turbo manifold. As far as the wastegate, it's a 38mm GT wastegate from Turbochargers.com.

Carl,

Yeah we were a little worried about the weight on the wastegate at first. But that tube is actually a little thicker than I thought when I ordered it. The welds are pretty beast, but if there is any problems, we can take it off fairly easily and weld in some bracing. And yes...it looks much better than the last setup...

Sil240,

Yeah we drilled out the internal flapper and welded flapper arm hole shut.

Thanks for all the comments guys! It was pretty easy to do...and like I said the cost was maybe $40-45-ish.

send me that guys info [email protected]. quick question though what about the o2 sensor? will it matter that the w/g tube isnt integrated back in before the o/2 sensor? and i have the same inverted piece of pipe you were talking about welded into my tube

I'm about to make a custom turbo elbow with intigrated downpipe (1 piece) for my RB25 using an SSautochrome turbo elbow. I was going to hack parts of it and add in a bend, but the piping is so shotty in places (the whole cut in the 2.5" pipe for the 1.5" wastegate pipe to plumb back into it, god it's awfully cut). I'm basically going to just end up using the 6 bolt flange and 3 bolt flange from it and scrap everything else. Since nobody makes a 6 bolt t3 flange by itself, and ATP makes 1 off flange for around $80 for it, the best bet is to just buy an SSauto and moddify it probably, but thats only helpfull if you have acces to a TIG and the skills to do it or somebody do it for you. I'm hoping to make a nice one, and possibly make some more at requests if people like them.
