Looking good, but is that box built to the spec of that sub???

Thanks. It is kinda hard to tell from that picture, but the box is actually bigger than it appears. We had to cut out the foam underneath to create enough space. But yeah we checked and double check the space requirements. It may be a tiny bit off, but if so the amount isn't significant enough to matter. It sounds amazing though. I can get some more pics of it if you want. Let me know.

install looks clean.. not a fan of JL W7's at all.... super loud but very sloppy woofer (and very overpriced to boot) if that's a 12", then be careful with that 1000 Watt amp... 1000 watts is the absolute maximum that a 12" W7 wants to see RMS, 750 watts would be more to the woofers liking, if played at high volumes all the time...

if that's a 13" W7, then it def shouldn't be in a sealed box, but the 1000Watt amp is perfect for that!

JL amps are great!, same power produced at every resistance level (1-8 ohms) due to the regulated power supply within the amps...

JL components are not very good SQ wise, I understand trying to keep within the same brand, but NO COMPANY makes all of their products outstading quality (i,e, great amps, woofers, components, decks, etc)

Gain, good overall work on your audio.. if you like it, that's all that matters

If your still offering, more pics of the sub enclosure would be cool. Nice setup!

The sub is a 12", and yeah i am already aware of the power handling limits thanks though. I have had W7's in ported enclosures in the past, and in these instances, i would have to agree that they can be sloppy, but it sounds extremely clean and responsive in this setup. As far as the JL components go, I am happy with them, they aren't necessarily my first choice, but I was able to work a good deal with the dealer on them.

putting 12" W7's in a sealed box is just NOT a good idea... the W7 was designed for "boomy" bass. As such, for ideal performance, it needs a lof of air to breath due to the excursion of the woofer. Running this sub @ 1000 watts in a sealed box may cause it to bottom out at high volumes, and eventually damage the sub over time.

By putting the W7 in a sealed box, you are in essence trying to get good SQ out of it, but this sub was desgigned for SPL, not SQ. In my semi-professional opinion, if you wanted a sound wuality setup, a 13" W6 would have been a much better option... and the power handling on the 13" W6 is the same as that of the 12" W7, however, the W6 operatesd much more easily in a sealed box.

If you guys had called JL Audio, I'm sure they would have said the same thing... again, if you like the setup, that's cool, but just know that you are trying to get the W7 to do something it wasn't designed to do, and in addition, you're giving it more RMS power than it wants also... just be careful when you're blasting your setup, that's all I'm saying!
