I have a 2009 Murano LE and I have a Jotto Desk installed in the passenger side compartment. In case you aren't aware a Jotto Desk is a laptop stand. The issue I've been having is once it's installed you cannot move the passenger seat forward as it bumps up against the Jotto Desk frame, so the potential for damage to the seat is high (the seat is currently all the way back as far as it will go). Whenever I go to the car wash I tell them not to move the passenger seat and they say okay, but the message doesn't get passed to other employees down the line, so inevitable some dummy at the other end moves the seat forward and it's ticking me off to no end.
What I'd like to do is to have a custom switch installed (factory switch with no label would be ideal) in the lower dash where the gas cap cover and the rear hatch switches are located. There's a blank there where no switch is installed so I'd like to have one installed so I can disable the seat whenever I'm in a situation where I don't want people moving it. My question is this. Do you think a Nissan dealer could do something like this or would an automotive shop that specializes in electrical issues be better suited for the task? I've even had passengers move it when my wife is driving the car and she forgets to tell them. Any advice or alternatives would be appreciated. I just don't want to disable it completely by unhooking the wiring harness that controls the seat functions.
Thanks in advance,
Mark
