I recently bought my wife a '08 Rogue and want to mount a Cobra 9950 radar detector in it for her. I have the hard wire kit and all, but she wants me to mount it in the top left corner of the windshield. Does anyone know where I can get a custom mount for this? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hey there and Welcome to NICO!, We're always glad to have more new Rogue owners here

Are you looking for something that will mount in the A pillar or a windshield which is less intrusive?

How do you plan on running the power supply wires? What I mean by that is are you going to piggyback an existing fuse or run something dedicated?

You can buy the wire on ebay but if you go with ValentineOne (which is costly but the best) you will already have one included with radar. The best way to get a power will be a dome light since it is located close to the windshield. I can get you pictures later but to find a constant 12V+ from the dome light so your radar will be always on you will have to play with voltmeter. Couldn't find the wire for your radar right now but I'm pretty sure you can cut the cigarette plug and just get + and - for the power.

Thanks for the welcoming! I have the hardwire kit for it already. I am not sure where I am running it to yet though. It has a fuse built in so I guess that means I can run it to the battery if I really want to. I was thinking of running it to the radio fuse, but have never connected anything like this. Is it tricky? I am looking for a mount on the A pillar or a bracket I can slide under the headliner so it will hang down from the roof near the windshield. Any ideas? All of your help is greatly appreciated!

suggestion

Pop the pillar cover. all the wiring runs down the pillar.

1. You can find a IGN on 12v pos wire to leach on there.2. EZ to run a dedicated wire to the fusebox.(fusebox cover is marked with wiring legend.

That's a great location for the detector where you have good unobtrusive view of it and no dangly wire

You can adapt almost any mount to your needs.. visit your local installer and hang around til he gives you a freebie advise/part. Installers always have a box of unused mounts.

Stealth Cord to the mirror (assuming you have the Gentex Homelink/compass mirror) would work as well.

I use the stealth cord and love it. I mounted my detector right above the rearview mirror. Most people don't even notice it until it goes off!

does placing the detector near the rear view mirror affect how well it picks up signals?

Well...I don't have a problem with picking up a signal but I guess I should lower my radar since I tinted the top of the windshield and I believe that part is decreasing the sensitivity of radar.

No problem...FYI...my radar is catching the signal from the back too and if i put it at the bottom of windshield then people in the car and back seats will block the signal. That's why I have to put it to the top so rear sensor will go throw the rear window.
