OK. Any one that has swapped an RB25DET into a 240sx might have notice this. I have never heard anything mentioned about this. If you switch the left motor mount to the right, and the right motor mount to the left, it looks as though it would move the motor back about an inch and a half. The mounts are off set so the center of the mount that bolts to the motor will not line up with the bolt that mounts to your x-member. Catch my DRIFT? So if you switch them around it will move the motor back. NOW. Has anyone thought of and or tried this? Alos, it looks as if the four mount bolts that bolt to the motor would not line up correctly but with slight work with a dremmel tool would make it work.

Somebody do this tonight please. For those who used the R33 X-member and stock mounts, measure the tightest space between the fire wall and motor that did not have to be dented to fit and post it. I will measure the difference of lenght the bolt hole at the bottom of the mount before switching and then after switching. By doing this I can judge if its close to possible "fitment." If it is then I will attempt this tomorrow morning and post my results at night. I will also post pictures of the mount switches so you can see what I'm talking about.

im gonna say this wont work. the rb motors are tilted 10 degrees.

reversing the mounts will put the motor 10 degrees to the opposite side, mis-aligning the IC piping, and making the transmission sit 20 degrees off its mount.

the IC piping isnt a big deal, but you will have to fab a new trans mount, or modify the existing one [slotting bolt holes and shimming the driver side]

the shifter will be rotated towards the passenger.

Ok. I tried it today. Never heard of anyone trying it but it was worth a shot. The mounts won't even bolt up right and it does put the motor at a horrible angle in tilt. I did however find something out rather interesting about keeping the a/c but you'll have to look at the new thread.

Actually the bolt patterns matched up perfect. It's the angle of the motor that would be way off.

THE RB20 MOUNTING BOLT PATTERN IS THE SAME FOR BOTH SIDES. I DON'T THINK THIS THEORY WILL WORK BECAUSE IT'LL ANGLE THE MOTOR TO THE INTAKE SIDE AS OPPOSED TO THE TURBO SIDE AND MAY CAUSE SERIOUS CLEARANCE ISSUES.

I have a series 1 or 1.5 whatever. The upper mounts did match up. (the bold holes) The angle of the motor was then way off.
