Custom Manifold w/ TWO Z32 turbos

Is it at all possible to set something like that up? Two Z32 t25s on a custom manifold? I'm i just crazy for even thinking of such a thing?

You could... but making the manifold would be a bit of a pain since you can't really just use 2 cylinders to spool the turbo.

What do you guys think about a sequential turbo setup off an FD. That would spool up way quicker then to t25's.

I've been trying to do that, only with skyline turbos. they are hard to find so I thought that ca18det turbos would work.however, 300zx turbos are difficult since they would face different directions on an inline turbo, since they have tangenital housings and are from a V-6.am I wrong about that?anyway I'm gonna get a JGS log style manifold and use two T25 flanges, a Y pipe manifold, and stock internal wastegates.I've been planning it for a while.

I dont even know what tangenital means. i was just throwing up the question of two small turbos on a KA24. Two cylinders, Two turbo's meant for a small 4 banger. Would it even be worthwhile on a ka24?

i'm thinking it would be worth gee-whiz points at the very least. Maybe some junkyard 2g DSM turbos.

How would the manifold work? Would it be best to have cylinders 1 and 2 on one connected to a turbo, or 1 and 3, then 2 and 4?

dsm turbos have a pretty ****ing large turbine for a twin turbo 4 cylinder.I want skyline GTR turbos, they are one of few turbos with a tiny *** turbine that might actually spool up on a 2.4 liter 4 cyl.I wanna do it just for the hell of it. I like different.I think with a 4 cyl you wouldn't want two seperate equal length flanges, I think log style would work best.

that would be one hard manifold and downpipe to make then. It would be a true work of art have an 1-3 and 2-4 manifold and two turbos stuffed in there

Yeah, the log would be easy, but what about underhood room? I don't think it would all fit, plus you're talking about having the hot side of the front turbo right next to the compressor of the rear one. Unless you mount one above and one below...

Quick idea, if you feed two cylinders of a 2.4L into a T25 you'd basically be using 1.2L to spool it right? Cause T25's spool instantly on 2L but I don't know if the lag would be worth it with only 1.2L spooling it.

If it would though, what do you guys think about running different sized turbos? Say a T25 to spool quickly (and run out of breath early) but then say something like a 16g (sorry for the DSM turbos - I'm just more familiar with them) that is spooled by the time the T25's dying off and flows tons of CFM till redline? Plausible? Am I just crazy? What am I missing here?

Stack em' put the back one on an extension that raises it up off the manifold, then bend the downpipe for the front one around the extension to mate up with the downpipe from the back one. The only worry I have with that would be hood clearance :( It'd make the intake piping simple too.

Yeah, my idea is not a sequential setup, but rather parallel I guess you'd call it. Seems simple enough to me but I dont know a whole lot about twin turbos.

true that. only one way to find out...give me some time on this.lolI'm piecing it together.I have my engine, my new wiring harness, a timing kit, bigger injectors, I'm working on e manage, forged pistons, and the turbo setup...

WHY???????????

You can make more power, have less weight, save money, simplify, and have similar spool with a single.

Unless you were neglected in gym class and REALLY want the attention, why bother???

I can see the attraction, as in "that's a cool idea"...but leave it as that.

Someone give me a good reason to do this, other than "no on else has"...

thats really my only excuse... for the money its costing me I could go with a single, and I'd probably make the same or more power.I just think it might be fun, and I like to do things that are different...

I was neglected in gym class:( ;)

It would be a cool one-off setup, and if you ran a smaller quick spooling turbo and a larger high cfm one you could get a wider powerband.

sequential turbo setups aren't that hard... run internal WG turbos and just set a MBC on the small one to the max amount of pressure it will flow efficiently at redline and set the MBC on the big one to however much boost you ultimately want. The boost pressure stays the same with sequential turbos just the flow amount and when the boost comes and and how long it stays changes;)

try it and see. I wanna try parallels.if everyone did their own **** then you could figure out what works and what doesn't on your own. its like... its like science experiments. I'd rather do something and find out it doesn't work and why then do something the book says and get the same result the book told me I would.

Worked on numerous GTR's...the one thing I hate more then the drive train is the twin turbo setup. Plumbing problems are horrible. I would stay single, is it possible, yeah anything is possible. I could even build ya one. But like everyone said, it'll be more money and more problems. But it will be different...in fact you would probably be the first.

If your looking for small *** turbos, get one off of a 1984 to 1988 200sx turbo. they are straight up T2's. came on CA18ET engines. they spooled almost instantly, 2 of em on a 2.4L would be interesting.

yeah ca18det turbos would defintely work. I had a WTB for them in ca section like 2 weeks ago. lolBUT they still have larger turbine than GTR turbos. So if you are going for spool the GTR tubos are going to be holy grail.

Rereading I see you said T2's... never heard of them.. someone link me to some info, sounds interesting.

I remember seeing this done to a 2.5l dodge -shadow or spirit can't remember.He has a website with pics of his design, and fabrication- It was a neat looking setup- i'm pretty sure he used the stock manifold and just hacked it up and welded two flanges to it .

To be efficient, smaller turbo should be used, smaller then the T25, a Twin T20BB (Ball Bearing) will have a nice quick spool up, and crazy low end power, top end well that’s a different story,

I thought this could work: use a T20 (for low end) and T3 for top end, the plumbing will be the hardest thing.
