I was looking into building a custom manifold for my ka24de.

I've seen the following products

http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/trbmnf.html(mani flange)

HKS makes a t3/4 flange for the other end for like 35 bucks

And I could use a tial wastegate flange, as eventually I'd like to run a big turbo externally wastegated.

I'm trying to figure out if it's even possible to build my own mani, how I would go about it, and if I'm really going to save any money or hurt my performance by not using revhard or edt.

If I could do it for significantly less than 430 bucks, I'd be interested, but I've never done this before. Just have a friend who could weld it together.

I'm still trying to figure how I could do the piping, anyone know?

Okay, and one last question:

If I use an internally wastegated turbo (I'm assuming the z31 turbo is) but I want to eventually go bigger with an external, could I just get a revhard or edt or other manifold with a tial flange built in and block it off somehow?

I'm also still trying to decide on the fuel... I'm thinking hks afr, but I'm still not sure if it's going to be too hard to tune that much of a difference with just a piggyback.

Anyone learned anything else about the e-manage? On one of greddy's pages I read something about it not being able to correct as much % as the piggybacks can (50%), but I gathered that you could buy new software or something for more correction.

Come on guys, if any of you are planning on going or have gone KA-T, you need a manifold.

I'm just curious to see if anyone has gone the non-conventional way.

Someone out here has done it in a similar way as you describe. You want to make sure your friend can weld well. The turbo mani will see a lot of expansion and contraction, and will crack if it is not built right. As far as a wastegate is concerned, you can add an external and bypass the integrated one. I wouldn't bother with swappinf manifolds later, unless you want to have all your pipes redone or want to take the time to try and match the manifold you build to all of the revhard's dimensions...

I just got my E-Manage this weekend. As soon as my car is out of the body shop, I will be trying it out. The manual says you can adjust up to 50% up or down. But you can also upgrade the MAF and injectors, and since it only alters the MAF signal to change fuel maps, it may have more fexibility with larger injectors. I'd suggest joining the E-Manage yahoogroups if you have more questions about it. You can find the link to the group through this site:
