I'd probably relocate the battery and run it down in that corner. You should be able to get good fresh air supply without having to worry about water. Remember there's a lot of plastic cladding along the underside of the engine bay that does a good job of keeping water out. Heck, if the alternator can survive down there, so can your air filter.

true, what about the 2 sensors that hooked to the air box, here should i hook them on the intake i would have to drill a couple of holes? for MAF and the other sensor in the front

2 filters = restriction in air flow. check out a company called spectre - they make a bunch of diferent kinds of elbows, pipes etc so you can piece together an intake of your design. if you don't want to suck up water...don't drive through deep puddles pulling from the bumper but if the pipe bends up at 90 degrees you won't get a lot of water in there. best thing to do is to run not an aluminum but rubber or plastic pipe from the stock airbox with a k&n down to the bumper and put a scoop on at that end.

check them out, it's for 3800 gm's but the tubing would be right - just slap a scoop at the end to ram air in: http://intense-racing.com/Merc...ction

just thought about something you might like. the gm 3800 series 2 supercharged was pushing only 9psi boost. i thought about putting one on my max in the future, the only thing would be finding a machine shop that would customise the LIM for a direct bolt on. i thought about getting a bigger pulley on it to run 5psi at WOT - no need to upgrade injectors or anything. you should look into that. i think the blower on those was from eaton and you can pick one up at a junkyard from a wrecked bonneville for about $200 - a lot cheaper than turbo and less work.

custom fitting something like that will cost $$$$$ and i live in cape cod so its wicked hard to find a place to find a machine shop, guess i'll just go with a CAI for now the duct think is easy but mad ugly idk yes but to do anything i have to wait until my next paycheck, i really like the sound a CAI make but the main concern is water sucking up through it

If you dont hook up you maf sensor the car isnt going to run. Also you are going to need to put a breather tube on your intake so that you can connect the three breathing tubes to it. I duno if that made sense but whatever im going out on the bike to the beach

You can always get a bypass valve

so did you have to cut the metal to make a hole so the filter can go through, looks pretty sweet

what if...you decided to sacrifice your ac and got a used turbo, got rid of the exhaust turbine housing, replaced the turbine with a pulley, mounted it in the ac spot and called it a custom supercharger? no need for the blow off valve etc. just throwing it out there...

what is this sensor is it the temperature sensor and also is it ok to drill a hole on a short ram intake and out it there because its juat a piece of plastic and can it break off and get sucked in the engine?

piping from spectre comes with holes for sensors, hose fitting etc. no need for drilling and that is the air temp sensor.
