I have a 2011 Altima Coupe that is stock on everything right now and when my car gets too cold or too hot inside the radio looks like garbage and can be hard to read. I am looking at putting in custom touchscreen, potentially a raspberry pi with a touch screen (android auto potentially) that controls the radio and adds a GPS (and some other features). Has anyone had luck trying this or do most people buy the 3rd party touchscreens off of Amazon, ebay, etc....

U can easily do this with Best Buy... They get the dash kit and stuff...and install it for u ... It's about $300+ ... There are many Android auto systems to choose in their website

It may be too late but I recently purchased and installed a Sony XAV-AX5000 and it’s amazing. Apple CarPlay and android auto included, with the option to add non cellular hardware based GPS later on if you decide to trek through hell itself and don’t have cell service
