im planning for the putting together of a custom turbo kit for my ka24de with 62k miles on it. Im confused as to what to do for the intercooler setup. i think a front mount would be best although it would probably be cheaper to find a used side mount from a DSM or saab or something. i have also seen that Apexi makes a silvia core. What do people use for an i/c ?

I used a 20x10.5x3 pwr from cheapturbo.com and made my own IC piping out of mandrel bends from Summit...3 U bends and 1 4ft. straight was more than enough, all 2.5 inch.

I'm using the Greddy KAT fmic kit, either with the greddy kit or a custom turbo kit.

Yeah, I keep forgetting about that new Greddy fmic kit, its cool to have an at least close to right kit out (I only say close because if you use a different manifold, it might be a little off).

You can always ditch the hot pipes on that kit and fabricate your own. The cold side is nice cause you don't have to drill your battery tray. :)

Really? Where do they route it then? You could probably even just modify the hot pipe, probably dont even have to ditch the whole thing...

I don't buy anything in a kit that I have to modify or throw away, especially at that price. I'd go with Nathans original post, in fact, I am...lol

how much boost are you wanting to run? if you only want to run around 7psi or less, than a smic would work fine. and you can get them for under $30 on ebay.

Yeah, you do. The intercooler has 2.5 inlet/outlet so the couplers you need are:4 2.5 inch straight couplers1 90 degree 2-2.5 inch reducer1 2.5-2.75 reducer

That is if you use an IAP mani and a T3/T04e turbo. Otherwise, your hot pipe might need a slightly different setup. You REALLY only need 2 2.5 couplers, but I got 2 extra and its a good thing...I'm allready having to cut the pipes after they were welded to stick in a coupler to correct a minor error in the welding...(one pipe was totally backwards  ) I cant complain though, the welding was free.
