I made this thing in a total of little under a week, was my first time making something so huge out of fiberglass, was a rush job, for my friend's over at powerzamcam, they needed a hard top to pass the D1 regulations, so i was like sure i'll take care of it. here some pix of the prototype and the very last one is my modified version on MS paint of what my next verson of the protype will be to deal with the problems i ran into on this roof. and here the crude version 2 prototype, port hole window is optional, once i go into production each will be made per order and minor customizations can be made.

Tomarrow it will be painted by me.

out of curiousity, any reason the rear windo was shrunk on v.2? also, would you be able to run a Lexan window instead of plastic? Im glad to see someone actually came through with a hard-top, I guess the old saying is true... necessity is the mother of invention, again GREAT JOB!!!

version 2 has a smaller window for more rear structural inegrity, and to prevent warping, which i had run into on this 1st version. asfare as window material i'm pretty sure i can find some sort of lexan to fit.

Total work time about 6 days 1 person about 40hrs of hands on time ruffly.

I'm not even a full time shop, i opened this lil hole in the wall shop in Newark of all places, I dont have alot of fancy equipment and I still work full time as a parts pro, hopefully my shop takes off and i can finnly buy a nice spray booth instead of doin body an paint work in the same bay.

i will be keeping c pillar on the hard top unlike this guys...i will probably be chopping off the back half c pillar back, and i will have a lexan window on the main hoop, between harness bar and the top...

BASICALLY TRUCK CONVERSION, should look very similar to sil camino...cant wait

Does anyone make a fiberglass boot? I am looking for one ASAP.. Car in paint shop and this will help cut down on cost. I have the leather one now, but would like to paint a fiberglass one if available.

Gee, that's friendly....

I'm not sure why you need a boot to make a mold from, since it doesn't fit that well at all. The ASC boot is a crappy design, there's WAY too much material and the attachment points are pathetic.

I'm in the process of building a hard boot (used to be called a "parade boot") with dual humps... It'll cover the top, the rear seat, basically everything behind the front seats.

Reinforcing it is a pain, and wind management is my next big hurdle.

I will pay what ever the cost is for a good product. I can not wait for production though as I am short on time to build this car. Any companies here in U.S or Japan that make it? If not available? I must move on with out it. Using the leather one would not be such a good idea to mold. Reason for the comment? It does not fit properly. That parade boot sounds like a winner though......can't wait to see that!Maybe on the next project. Thanks guys for the info.

This is pretty sweet I was looking around for a hard top to fit onto my vert. If you ever get around to making a mold and selling these send me a message with a price. I would also like to see some form of lexan etc for the back window. You did an awesome job doing fiberglass work with no mold is a pain. What are your plans for mounting the fiberglass top to the car? I would like to see how it mounts.

It would be good to see someone finally succeed at making a good hard top, good luck man, have you thought about covering it in carbon fibre, that would be sweet.

Hello everyone,

My name is Greg, I live in Portland, OR. - I recently came into owning a 93 240 vert and it has been the bane of my existance so far. Its nice to know the history and how rare the top part is, only. So I have looked into what many of you have and would like to go forward with having a profesional two piece fiberglass or carbon fiber hard-top that will allow all vert users to remove all the old gear and bolt this top in. It will be stylish and clean and functional this is as close as possible to what the end product will resemble - http://www.3teshop.com/index.php?main_p ... cts_id=538

My hopes are to get about 4 or 5 people together to pool the cash into an escrow account, this is a third party, highly leagal asset holder under written contracts and agreements. This will ensure everyones saftey on the matter not to mention all information will be shared.

The shop is hear in Portland, OR. http://outlawcustoms.us/custom.html Please feel free to talk to John, he will tell everyone what can/can't be done as he did me. The initial cost is around 4,000 and the more that buy in make it less and will also recieve furture stipends from future sales. If I am the only one to buy in on this the cost per each will be about 2-3k shipped, depending on shipping.

Please contact me [email protected] or 503-954-9308 - Thank you!

Hey OP, i see in your sig you have a shop called CCP on Green Pond RD. I live litteraly 1 mile away from there and drive past there every day almost. Im just curious what kind of stuff you guys do so i can give you guys business if possible. Email me at [email protected] if you could and just give me the run down on what kind of services are offered. because i couldnt gather exactly what they were by the website. Thank you.

Also im diggin the hardtop but it def. needs a little refining. If you made a nice fitting, reasonable looking one i would be interested.
