Well, I just typed out this HUGE email, and lost it. So now I'm pissed and your gettin the short version:

I have a cooling problem, don't have the coin to get a new rad, narrowed it down to not enough air gettin to the radiator due to my FMIC blocking the air, as the FMIC is pinched between bumpers and rad supports.

Does anyone know the owners of these cars, so I can contact them and ask how they went about opening up their front ends.

Any and all info would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Also, is it safe to take out and run with NO thermostat?

Nismo makes a cooler thermostat that opens up at cooler temps i think like 72-68 or something like that cant remeber tough, they have them at phase 2, and heavy throttle

If you are running stock clutch fan in hot weather with the fmic in the way, you will overheat or come close from time to time. I recommend electric fans, lower temp thermostat, and radiator cap. Before anything, try bleeding the air out of your system if you have any in there. My car overheated "out of the blue" one day on a short 3min drive, but I drove the car 30 miles 10mins before that 3min drive (stop at gas station). Then it kept randomly overheating whenever it wanted to (sometimes I can go a couple gas tanks with no overheats) then out of the blue it will over heat again. I flushed and bled the system properly and never saw that needle go past mid mark ever since.

Yeah, I think I"m gonna cut the front end, or make that oval shaped cut in the middle of the front bumper, 14" fan, NO thermostat and the water wetter idea. Hopefully that will work. If not, I guess its time to break out the credit card and buy a rad.

Thanks.

if you can't afford to get a new Rad. or any expensive electric fans I think theres a few good fans that come on some cars stock that would be good candidates to get at a junk yard....I just don't know which would be best, but maybe somebody else does.

Well I have enough money, but I just have other things to be putting money into rather than a $500cdn rad. I'll go and pick up a large fan tomorrow. Thanks

Koyo's are great. If your on a budget look for an older Supra, the radiators are the same size as the koyo ( 2 or 3 core) and the water fittings will be suitable for the SR. It may not look nice but it will be functional.

Hmmmmm, I cut open the front end like the pics I showed you guys, and I'm not over heating anymore, plus the other half of my intercooler is showing now. Awesome. The real test will be today driving around, 27 degrees celcius.

Well, the test ran good, and the car drove with no overheatin, unless I really bagged on the car for a long period of time. And then with that, it really didn't overheat THAT much.

I'll attach a couple of pics of the new and improved front end. Enjoy.

Thanks. I appreciate it. Yeah, I tried to keep the car as clean looking as I could. I'm even considering takin off the tint. You'll know what I mean when I fire up some more pics.

I cut the hole with a dremel. Hacksawed the styrofoam underneath, and drygrinded the rebar. Just made it large enough that the rebar still had support at the top. It turned out A LOT nicer than we anticipated it to be. Tomorrow I"ll snap some more photos of the car, and post them on a webpage and fire up a new topic on here to show all of you.

Thanks for the comments. I'm a happy camper now that the car isn't overheating.

That vent looks very nice and smooth. And its helping you from overheating the engine. Win Win situation :D
