So my car is in the shop getting its s14 sr20det put into. (rebuild sr20det with oem internals, brand new oem GT28R turbo, etc etc)

I got a CXRacing FMIC with piping kit from ebay, and now the guys at the shop (my buddies and me included) are trying to make a custom FMIC setup, unlike the typical FMIC placement in the front behind the bumper.

I wanted to run my FMIC in place of my radiator, and then have a radiator right after it (which will need custom brackets to go in place) but I have plenty of room between the engine and the rad support/FMIC thanks to the sr20.

Sorry for my describing skills, sounds confusing but here is a photo to help you guys out (its obviously not an sr, took it off some VW forum for guidance)

My question is if I run setup like this, will I be fine or my car will overheat on hot days? Obvously Ill have more room then this VW between my radiator and engine but still the radiator/FMIC will be right there with each other. I'm also using a Mishimoto radiator with dual fans.

BTW Im a noob to the SR world as well as FMIC/turbo setups. Is this a stupid idea or should I just say f**k it and cut my bumper/support to fit the intercooler? or maybe get a smaller one?

The picture shown is the traditional mounting with the Intercooler in front of the Radiator. If you run the IC after the Rad you will get a ton of heat soak from the hot air from the Radiator. Put the IC in front of the rad like it should be or do a V Mount setup which gets fresh air to both.

So its fine that its going to right next to the radiator? (just like in the picture maybe an inch away from touching it) I mean if radiator will get hot, it won't affect the ic right? Or will my IC suck all the radiator heat into the piping? Thats what I'm worried about

Air comes from the front and moves back so the IC will not be affected, if so very very little. I know a lot of people that run the same setup in 100 degree weather you will be fine.
