So I realize a lot of people do not want to post in my HID thread due to there being a lot of controversy on the subject, but here is something different that I will gladly take feedback on + or -, because this is something that you might be interested in.

So along with my new headlights come a new design in the sense of an eyelid that I am custom fabbing up of fiberglass. I currently have the area preped to do the job, but due to the very windy weather today was not able to start fiberglassing. The design concept is shown here in the following pics.

The taped off area will be what will get covered with fiberglass, as you can note, I have left notches for the parking light, and a slight glimpse of the side marker reflector to keep it legal. I was thinking of also putting a couple of LEDs in the sidemarker to make the parking light more visible to the side of the car.

and a look at what the final product will hopefully look like, painted OEM black to match my car.

This hope fully will be done and preped for paint within a few days as it is a very simple task to accomplish, so please let me know what you think thus far, and hopefully tomorrow, errr later today I forgot midnight makes it a new day lolz, the wind will be calm enough to be able to work, and it will be done and ready for bondo by o0o say 6:00 p.m. PST. by then hopefully I will be able to slap bondo on, and have it sanded and paint preped by 6:00 p.m. PST on Saturday. So it should turn out to be a quick and simple project creating a one off piece!!!

sweet...

how much to fab a custom set for someone else? (I know what I want it to look like, but have no idea how to do it? and not sure if I could do it with instructions, but if you put good enough instructions on here, I may give it a shot myself...)

well I could give instructions, BUT fiberglass is not something easily learned by giving directions and saying, "here go give this a shot." I learned by seeing it done, and was taught the basics, and expanded my knowledge through trial and error. If you would like a set, I would be more than happy to do one for you, but due to school issues these need to get done TODAY! Due to the fact my back up car is OOC you should know the Sidekick, the clutch took a ish on me. But mos def I could fab up a set for you for about $125 or so, dependning on the design and materials used. I had a nice curved design I bet you woulda liked too, it for some reason seemed more girly, but still gave it that intimidating look to it. When I finish these up, I will snap some pics so you can see to tell me what you think if you want a set.

This is just pics of the prep just to do this!!!

It is a time consuming job, but a very easy one at that due to the simplicity of the design and not having to do much, on the other hand a FG sub box takes days, weeks, or even months to build!

LoLz, thousand projects YES! I like having more than one thing to do and complete, makes for a more interesting time. But I do enjoy fabricating! And thanks for the luck, it is greatly appreciated!

So I just finished up laying down the first layer of fiberglass on, and took a couple quick shots of the passenger side headlight, but I glassed both sides. So it is coming along nice, good, and QUICK!! Hopefully as I said I will have them glassed and cut by 6p.m. PST today, we will see how things go since sometimes it can get too good to be true and there are issues. Here are the pics!

Looks Great!I like how you left out the area for the parking light and reflector. If you plan on using a L.Ed. for parking light its a 194 Bulb.I used the 5 L.E.d. bulb but its a lil funkly slippin' it into the housing.I would go with a single L.E.D.

I'll need to see the finished product, but I think you may be on to something here. I think it will look really good when done.

HaHa Thank you for this response, this is exactly why I am retrofitting HID projectors off of an Infiniti into the Versa, due to the simple fact that these p.o.s. aftermarket kits do nothing but blind people. I hope that they soon make them illegal to have installed on cars. My HID's are top quality OEM, and will not burn out, or break down as quickly as yours will end up doing just as all my friends kits have. The retrofit will make it so that I do not blind people as the projectors were designed to do so.

Unfortuanatly the project has been suspended due to somebody (most likely one of my neighbors kids since I live in an apartment w/ no garage) went and touched the fiberglass while it was still wet and warped it, and I was asleep a big thing like that on a project like this was not fixable, so it was thrown away, I was super pissed off, and that is why I took off for the weekend to my gf's house. Not to worry though as I will redo them, this time taking the headlights OFF of the car and doing it in front of my house where nobody walks and can mess with the FG.

I knew it was going to well and too good to be true, that is the way it always is for me! Whenever something is going good and easy for me, something always happens! Anywho, hopefully I will get some money to replace the supplies I wasted like the expensive @$$ green tape, and some other lil nick nacks I need to re-do the eyelids. Wow I am now sad again thinking about this, because they looked so good!! I still have the good one, but it will end up in the trash too, because I want to do both at the same time to get them exactly the same.

I was also thinking about soind some taillight covers instead of blacking them out, that way it is removable. Dunno yet, and way to earlier to start another project! lolz

thanks for the offer i have a friend who owns a HID warehouse in Rolland Heights and i get it quite cheap through him so if i have any problem i just swap out it out with him the same day but usually lasts me about 2 or to 3 years.. how much are you charging for HID's?? curious as to see what kind of 5k or 6k you have i would like more of a pure white HID that does not have blue tint.

ok well as I had stated before, the project got put on hold because of one of the kids here in my apartment, whom I now know who it was, they ratted his lil @$$ out! So now I will keep an eye out on him next time around! I knew there was something going on when I heard screaming outside that day, but thought nothing of it. ANYWHO!!!

I was able to semi-salvage one to be able to get an idea of how it would have looked. Atleast I am sure that the kid had a fun time getting the fiberglass resin off of himself, and luckily the resin he got on the car I was able to remove before it dried.

Well here are the pics, let me know what you guys think. Remember this would have gotten sanded down, and preped and gotten painted black. I might still do it to get an idea of it even better, we will see, I have to do it to my sub box anyway, so I might do these too at the same time.

So what do you guys think? It sat perfectly, the height was just right, it was almost flawless if he had not deformed the back on the side, you will notice it is about an inch not covering the light, the driver side was trashed, no way anything could have fixed it! I'm going to get a pic tonight to see what the difference is with the lights on, see if you can see the parking light any better.

hey, just an opinion for the eyelids....i think u should cover the amber side light and custom mold them to the bumper....there is like a mold for future plans of turn signals that nissan might of had...i think it would look sweet covered and then a turnsignal/parking light right there were it is visible...i am also trying to design an eyelid, but im trying to take a different approach and a different style to it...il post pics as soon as im done maskin them off....but so far they look great!
