Well, I've figured out that if I get a 240 and do the engine swap, I'll do it with Unstable, just because they're close by. I'm wondering, after talking to my brother about it, if I could find the nearest exhaust place and have them build one. My bro says that it would be cheaper and probably give me as much, if not more power. How would I do this? Has anyone done it? Would I get pulled over on the way for not having an exhaust (I'm not sure if the catalytic converter would be included in the engine swap)? He says that as long as i don't push the gas too hard, the db limit won't be broken, is that true? I'm confused.

Andy's mufflers on HWY 124 in Snellville will build your exhaust. Tell them you want 3 inch custom stainless exhaust setup. They will give you a few choices on mufflers and tips and even let you see all these(they have a display shelf inside)...I went there for my s10 and they didn't charge me any extra to bend the exhaust and make it come out right behind the back tires...very nice guys..plus they do just about anyhting else you could need done-

Know what kind of power/ sound I could get? Course, you may not, 240's probably sound a good bit different than S10's, but got a general idea?

240's have a history of sounding good with any nice exhaust system. I'm sure whatever they put on yours will not sound like a weedwacker because that is just usually not what our cars do. They give you a bunch of diff. muffler choices..and will tell you which ones are louder...all up to you-

the catalytic converter isn't included in the swap, just drive slow at low rpms, and youll be fine.

Where would I get a cat? The engine isn't legal w/o one.

Your local muffler shop would probably be a good bet. Also, check out this study on catalytic converters posted earlier by Zebrahead http://www.installuniversity.c...1.htm . Your local muffler shop should also be able to tell you which cats they have will be the least restrictive.

One minor detail, how would I get the car to a muffler shop to get a cat, then exhaust put on, without getting pulled over, if I've just had an engine swap done? Once again I remind everyone this is not taking place in real time, but I am researching the swap, so than it the event that I do get a 240 :) and get the swap, I'll know what to do.

I dont know how it is in Atlanta, but in CA, if you just bought your car or had something done to it and made it non-street-legal, they will allow you to drive from point-A to point-B and you cannot be cited. Just tell them that you're on your way to the muffler shop to get it fixed and they will let you go...

You can use the stock 240 SX cat, instead of buying a new one.

Correct me if I'm wrong; but he'll probably want an aftermarket exhaust . . . kinda defeating the point of having wider pipes if you have a bottleneck at the cat. Either way, he'll need flanges to make it fit . . . sounds like a hastle :rolleyes. Just get a test pipe ^ ^.

what are you looking for ? a cat? and your having trouble? Just buy a cat w/ 3" fanges on it, or buy a cat w/out flanges, and have a 3" flange welded on...Catco makes 3" diameter cats, as well as dozens of other companies. Some cars come with 3" diameter cats also, (hint hint)...
