i don't know exactly what kind of muffler i have but it's a magnaflow. i had 2.5" to the stock muffler already for $100 and then at this shop i paid like $260 for the muffler installed and my 3rd cat cut off with the flat part before the cat made into 3".......... but now i put my cat on (electronic exhaust cut-outs comin in a couple weeks)....... but ya, heres a clip of my 3.5se with 2.5" cat-back and a magnaflow muffler

2.25 - 2.5" is the perfect size piping. You only go 3" if youre running a turbo or supercharger.

ya i agree with you but the piping goes up to 3" from the factory when it gets to the cat. so they just replaced the flat spot before the cat with 3" as well....... the other day i was looking at my car at the muffler shop (looking where i'm going to put the exhaust cut-out) and i saw the 3" pipe got scraped a little..... i didn't even lower my car yet! lol well heres a pic of the cat and the flat piece is what i replaced with 3"

damn thats an ugly cat. I'd replace that cat with a canister looking one and just go 2.25" or 2.5" all the way.

i don't really care too much cuz i'm just going to put an electronic exhaust cut-out before the cat lol it did make the exhaust sound a thousand times better with no cat tho. waaaay more crackles when you let off the gas.

what is the stock pipe size ? do you think a 2.25 pipe cat-back with magnaflow 14851s will sound good on a 2.5?

from my understanding, magnaflows are pretty much for domestics. Im thinkin your cars gonna sound like a domestic car. If you want power gains, go with the size we talked about earlier. I say go ahead and try it, do something different man.

My experience with Magnaflows is that as long as it isn't the straight through design (which I don't think this one is...) it should sound pretty good. Nice 'n mellow with a bit of a growl to it. A word of caution though...Magnaflows rust pretty easily (again, in my experience...and that of a few others........)
