Custom exhaust inquiry

Yo, I have a 2007 2.5S alti and I am planning on doing a custom exhaust 2 1/2" in/outlets no cats, true dual, with two 12" magnaflow resonators. My question is, can I weld a 2 1/4" muffler (borla boomer thumper) to the 2 1/2" pipes? I just can't find a good muffler with a 2 1/2" inlet (borla, magnaflow, greddy, etc.). Any advice/help would be much appreciated.

Short answer is yes, it can be welded. I had that done before on my Spec V with a 350Z resonator.
