When you guys make your custom down pipe, did you incorporate a flex section for engine movement? If so where did you place it on your dp? I figure placing the flex section at the bottom would be best. Also, where can I get one? Thanks-WA

I did. Usually the bottom is the only place where the flex section will fit, but depending on the size of your pipe you may be able to get it in the middle there near the steering shaft.

Jegs and Summit are good places to start looking for flex sections. Our sponsors are certanly an option (reccomended of course!), or also you could check out http://www.roadraceengineering.com

one of the sponsors, 240sxmotoring.com, carries a 3" modified megan racing downpipe w/ flex section for about $150 shipped!!! That's the one I have rite now, still not installed, but working on that part.

ebay has the 2.5" version for like $100 shipped.

It's an sr downpipe, but now u just need to fab up a dump tube!

I guess I'm using the wrong terms. I have the pipe that comes before the cat. (3" dia stainless steel) The part I need to make the piping that goes from the turbo to the middle pipe.So...I guess you can say I need to fab the dump tube, but I already have a down pipe.I was planning on putting the flex section on the dump tube. Is that a good place to put it? or will it destroy itself from all the movement?

the closer to the turbo the "safer", since it will limit/absorb the most movement.

It won't destroy itself, a flex section is made for specifically that reason: to allow flex and movement in the system.

If it fits, you can put it there, there's plenty of guys who have. It will disrupt air flow tho, but to what amount, I'm not sure, probably minimal.

Where to get it? You can get custom sizes off ebay and get a place to weld for you.

Thanks. I'll probably just get a 3" dia flex section from e-gay.I could put the flex section right next to the turbo after the flange. But I doubt it can take all that heat and pounding from the waste gases.I think I'll put it at the bottom of the dump tube. I'll be putting Nismo mounts for minimal engine movement.I plan on doing all the fab work since I can do all that at work...even though I have an office job. The machine shop is just down the hall.
