custom double DIN kit

Hey all, it's been a while since I've posted on here. Just wondering, I know that there is not a double din dash kit available for our cars, how difficult would it be to customize one from the existing single din kit? I currently have a pioneer single din head unit in my car and started to think of whether or not I could customize a double din kit from the existing single din kit. I am dying to put in the new pioneer avic-f900bt navigation head unit. if not, how much would it cost to have a kit custom made? what places would be willing to do custom work like that? I am in the Richmond, Va area/willing to drive home to dc metro area if that helps. Thanks!

I did it on my 2002 just use the oem stereo iso brackets and a generic double din piece of abs plastic, u will have to trim to fit the cut out of the dash and glue the panel that you make to the factory panel, worth it in the end ill try to get a pic up for you

I made my own little DIN mod. Both the headunit and the LED portion attach right to the factory mounting brackets. I can take both out anytime I like...

Where can you find the plastic to make your own? I just installed an F700Bt in my Pathfinder and despite what Crutchfield said, it is smaller than my old double DIN bose unit. I've got about a 1/4 inch gap on the bottom. As far as the sides go, it is about 1/8" on each side, but atleast that is bareable. Please help!

hey i have a dual din kit for 2003 -2006 infinity g 35 it comes with the heat and ac control i had to import it from the japanese domestic market i will sell it for what i paid for it and the import tax i paid so let me know give me your email and i will send you a picture grant

Check Plastics in the Yellow Pages. Here on the West Coast, it's TAP Plastics.They'll cut to size, and, for a price do fabrication.

For something like that, any local car audio install shops sell this kits for like 15-20buks but if you have an Ebay account you can get it for alot cheaper. Some even come w/ after market wiring harness as well!
