Custom cold air intake sr20det

my friend has a red top s13 sr20det with pretty much all HKS bolt-ons. Well he has the old clamp on HKS intake filter and recently he made a sorta custom intake using aluminum or som sort of alloy that is used in clothe dryers. The metal tubing is wat i would say flexible. It doesnt bend or anything. Well, he adapted the intake and the tubing to fit and everything and he made the tubing long so it could be cold air coming in and he sayz he feels the difference in hp. Anyone know how to exactly make this custom cold air intake?

If your wondering, y i just dont ask my friend, itz because i wana roll up to him with some extra hp and not let him know.
