Just came in today after work, and I just finished putting the transmission back up. It's custom to my specs, has 4 ceramic pucks and springs (for ease of feathering and daily drivability). Haven't taken her out for a ride since the car is still up on stands for the kat project. After all these clutch swaps, I'm suprised how fast I can get the transmission down and up, no sweat to it now.

Well, let me know what you think.

Pete

Got it through CP Racing.

I got it with a re-man p-plate, so I paid a bit more. But I think the clutch alone is around $220-$250 CDN ($165-$190 US) from what I remember.

The springs are nice, I've driven a friends SR with the same clutch setup. It's definatly close to stock feel, so it's great for the street. It it said to hold ~320 ft. lbs of torque.

Best of all, it can be made up for any car, I just had to send in my old clutch.

Titan, what kind of upgrades do yu have or what are you planning for? Copper Cermaic clutch discs are very agressive and wear the flywheel and pressure plate much quicker than organic discs. I always recommend sticking to organic discs unless you absolutely have a need for such agressive materials.

if they can build them custom to your specs, then could they build a larger organic one? 300zx sized or so, but with the stock 240 mounting holes. Would that even work with a stock flywheel?why am I getting so off topic? not sure.

NO not off topic. Yeah--if a sr can use a 300zx clutch, then i dont see why soneone cant use it in a ka transmission. It would hold a good bit of pwer im sure.

Tha would be sweet--------

I'm sure they can... and yes the stock flywheel (with some resurfacing and new bolt threads) will accomodate a 240mm clutch and pressure plate.

I re-read your post and if by "240 mounting holes" you mean the stock pp to flywheel holes then no. The stock pp can't take a 240mm clutch disc.

SPEC and RPS both have sprung hub pucked clutches as well. Ive actually been looking at the combo myself, for the same reasons Titan mentioned.

Heres a pic of the RPS one I'm gonna get:

About $350 or so...

Yeah I was thinking of an organic disc, sprung hub, 300ft lbs or so of capacity, pressure plate and disc. Seems like the ideal clutch for a street driven car. However I'm into drifting and clutch kicks and such take their toll on organic discs. And if I wear out a KA flywheel I can get another for 20 bucks.Dunno, something like what he got might be ok for me. I'd probably opt for 6 puck anyway.

C-Kwik,

I'm in the midst of a kat project using a z31 T3. I'll be running stock boost for some time, but will eventually up it. I'm looking for no more then 250 rwhp eventually. I know I don't really need a copper ceramic clutch, but I wanted a spring hub with good bite.

how much does the pressure plate matter in clamping force? Is the clutch disk more relevant or the PP? Also, when you say 'stock feel' are you talking about the difficulty of the pedal to push down, or the degree of engagement? So what if i put a good clutch disk w/ a stock PP... would that be any good? how about the other way around- kick *** pp w/ stock clutch?

And has anyone actually put a 300zx sized clutch in their 240?

The PP matters the most on clamping force, but the disc is the one the really grabs.

And I have installed a 300zx sized clutch in my car. See sig.

Yep. Having some issues with 240sxonline.com, should be resolved shortly, but anyway I haven't been able to do a write up on my site. So look here. If you have anymore questions feel free to open up a thread or write to [email protected]
