Hey Guys,

For those of you across the pond that might not be aware, a guy in NZ has been casting bell-housings to mate the VH45 to a Toyota W-Series Gearbox as well as flywheels to suit.

They utilise any of the W-series Toyota Gearboxes, and the stock Toyota 9.5" Clutch. Not sure about the states, but these are far more available than the Z32TT Gear.

As an option it has many pros over the current adapter plate offerings, in my opinion:
-No machining or modification of the block (grinding off around the starter)
-No machining or modification of the transmission
-Utilizes the stock VH45 starter and ring gear.
-Common Toyota W-series components (clutch, throwout, slave).

As an mech eng, i've done the calcs on the adapter-plates and they are sound, however to me this appears a much 'nicer' solution.

Anyway the person you want to talk to is Damian at a1turbos. They have a webstore here:http://a1turbos.co.nz/mm5/merchant.mvc? ... ode=Nissan.

The cost for the bellhousing is about $700US+shipping, its a slightly more costly solution than the others, however in my case, the savings are made in the purchase cost of a W58 trans over a Z32tt.

Cheers,
Kirby

Note: I know this might sound like an advertisement or what-not. But I am not affiliated with a1turbos, Damian or even NZ. The information I post here is what I have got from my email to him. And I was so excited to have a solution I was happy with that I thought I'd share....especially since i've never seen it mentioned here on Nico.

I've also heard those gearboxes are junk. In the US the 300zx boxes are plentiful and cheap. my adapter also doesn't require any bellhousing machining.

Great option though for those where the Z transmission is not available

Did you get one of the very first 5? If so you may have some issues but the later ones have worked good
