So I just installed my fairly new JDM Cusco Zero-2's on the s14. I was dumb and forgot to tighten all the camber plate nuts that surround the adjust knob, not the shock tower nuts. Anyways, I put the coilovers on and when I'm driving I start to hear squeaking as I drive over bumps. Go back home and realized the nuts weren't tightened down all the way. So I tight the driver side rear coilover all the way down. Problem is the 2 front coilovers and the rear passenger coilover, the nut won't tighten all the way down because it starts to move the whole shaft & spring when I tighten. I even tried my airgun, but to no avail. I ended up taking the coilovers out and greasing them up just to make sure, but nope the squeek is still there but not on the driver side rear coilover (the one nut thats tightened down). Do you guys think this could be the problem to the squeaking noise? I may have to go to my friends shop who has a bigger compression and gun to see if I can tight all 3 nuts down TIGHT. Sorry for the long post but the sound is killing me.

unless you have other worn suspension components,I think you've already diagnosed where the noise is originating from. secure the nuts but just be carefulnot to overtighten. good luck. while you have themout of the vehicle, check the stroke and make surethat 1 (or 3) of your coils isn't blown.

haha, my brand new JIC FLT-A2s did the same thing.. every thing was torqued down.. the squeaks went away on their own after about 2 weeks..

Gonna have someone hold the coilover while I airgun it. Hopefully that helps take care of the squeak. I checked all 4 coilovers and they are not blown.

yeah the top nuts i believe with 30lbs with a impact gun setting 1. how is the ride for you?

wait wait wait 3 nuts? what are you talking about. the 3 nuts that hold the coilover to the shock tower? if so those don't need to be torqued. just lift it up from under by hand all the way up and then tighten until it wont go anymore i forgot the torque specs 45lbs?

No not the 3 nuts that are on bolt to the shock tower but the One main nut that surrounds the dampening adjustment knob. I can't tighten it anymore because it ends up turning the whole coilover assembly. But yes the ride is fantastic. ON the first dampening setting it is smooth, almost OEM feel. Not very bumpy at all. ONly that annoys me obviously is that damn squeak!

forgot to tell you guys, I didnt install the factory gasket that goes between the top of the strut and the strut tower (chassis). Do you think not having that is causing the squeak? Or are you supposed to install that for aftermarket coilovers?

I did not install those little gaskets on my coilovers and they didn;t cause any problems
