Hey,

Currently doing a SR20 swap into my 90 240SX and I keep getting mixed answers from my friends on what I should replace before I put the motor in. Currently I have replaced the Water Pump, Exhaust Manifold Gasket, Turbo Gaskets, Fuel Pump, and new Exhaust Manifold Studs. I was wondering anything else I should really consider changing before I put the motor in.

Thanks

This belongs in the SR section.

It will also be a good idea for you to replace your front and rear crank seals. Also, replacing the clutch is obviously a good idea.

Oops, sorry for posting in the wrong section figured cause this dealt with a 240 it was ment to go here .

Yea, I was looking into the clutch, and will definitely start looking into the seals, surprised no one has said anything about them to me yet.

Moved this to the SR forum.

Replace anything you can get to easily right now. That includes all accessible gaskets and seals, clutch, water pump, thermostat, and spark plugs.

A little off topic, the guy I bought my rebuild block off of lived in Mechanicsville.

I suggest replacing the clutch since it leaves headway for future modifications. I opted to use the stock clutch that came with my motorset since it had life left in it, I quickly found at 13psi that I should have replaced it. Plus, the clutch is sooooo much easier to replace with the transmission and engine outside of the car.

+1 for ease of replacement at this point.

If you just plan on maxing out the output of the stock motor, just swap an Exedy Stage 1 clutch in. They're not expensive and they'll support anything the stock turbo can throw at it.

I recommend spark plugs only because you don't know the age and wear on them. It's more or less just good insurance to replace them with fresh plugs. Kind of like the oil seals. The front and rear might not be leaking, but it's best to go ahead and replace them anyways for that random chance they do start to cause issues sooner than later.
