Hello

I've owned my 152k mi 91 Q base model for three weeks & have recently replaced;

Transmission / rear main sealSwitched to Mobil1 oil/filterAlternator (Nissan reman)BeltsTB serviceCleaned/Regrounded MAF, (still need to check TPS voltage)Fuel filter

I just ordered/received;Rear wheel bearings/sealsDS window regulatorF&R padsTokico BluesFront upper strut mountsEibach Pro-KitsNGK Iridium plugsCore ECU & TCU to ship to JWT for hi-perf w/100shot, stage II TCUFront main seal, VC plug well gaskets

Think that's all for the moment. Question is, while doing the stuff I mentioned, what other items should I source to replace now to avoid going back in there? (springs, struts, etc)

I know I still need;PS pump/linesTension rodsTrans cooler.

TIA for any input

Upper links.......

Also, make sure your sway bar bushings are good, along with steering rack boots.....

You need NGK laser platinum, not iridium..... There's a difference...... The Q engine is sensitive to these things......

I think you pretty much have everything covered....... Have you done the plenum?? Have you checked your OBD codes???

If you are replacing the upper control arms, spring for the Stillen adjustable and use .25" flat washers under them, otherwise you'll have excessive camber from the Eibach lowering springs and grind away front tires in no time.

Fuel pump, fuel filter? Better to do them if theyre dirty than let them destroy the fuel control module along with them.

Numero UNO, guides, yes, I have received a crash course in them. The previous owner was a member of the site (Chris Guedes) and told me the guides were done sometime in 95 or 96 when the problem first became known to be an issue. I know 94's received the upgraded ones, and I called Infiniti Customer Care to request service records but they had no record of it.

Chris said the first thing I'd be bombarded with here is;

"GUIDES"

He is searching for the receipt, he originally lived in Georgia, (Marietta area) maybe Q45Tech's group did it. If they keep records by vin, it's JNKNG01CTMM104010 fwiw.

Lower intake water lines are new too.

Fuel filter, yes, pump, not yet, I know it's old & easy to get to, but are they known to go bad frequently like the 300TT ones do?

Upper links? Do you mean control arms? They actually look pretty good, I was trying not to jump into resto mode yet. IMHO, excessive tire wear is 90% toe, 10% camber, unless it's obviously way out of spec.

What's the deal with the Irids/Plats?

Thanks again guys.

The platinum plugs were designed for the Q engine, and other popular plugs out there has had reportings of the electrode falling off in the cylinder (not a good thing)....

It sounds like you got a GREAT NICO Q.... Congrats......

Ther is no way to tell if the upper links (control arms) are good or bad by looking at them..... you have to know the mileage.....

The pump is probably on its last legs..... If you can here the pump humming with the car on (open the trunk with the car running), you should hear just a very slight hiss.... Anything else and its going.......
