I am so paranoid now to buy a new car... I have a 95 LS400, it's 15 years old, and no major mechanical defects. I bought it new, back in the day. Little annoying stuff, but the car is 15 years old and rock solid. I keep telling myself I will buy a new car when this one explodes, but I really don't see this happening, as the car may out live me. with that being said, it would be nice to have a G37 for a second car that I could chuck around, as the Lexus is boring. But the car has spoiled me into thinking that I don't have to do anything except change the oil.Tampa G35 Sedan 6MT wrote:I had a transmission problem at 39k miles... that was replaced under warrantyThen I had a Oil consuming motor at 54k miles.. and they found more problems with the syncros in the transmission and replaced that again.I have had the abs pump go under warranty...Lots of squeaks... This is not a problem of the new G'sI had the radio, head unit, and cd changer/dash cluster changedDJ
I like the Lexus cause, I don't have to do anything to it, and it's free. I haven't gone to the dealer in 10 years so I can't even remember what it was like. I've driven the G37 and the Z, and they are both great, but the Z is not an appropriate car for daily use. It's way to rough on these mashed roads in LA, and you can't see out the back. The G has a nice balance of comfort, practicality and sportiness.Tampa G35 Sedan 6MT wrote:The G37's are great and should be like that...
With that said... I had a 98 Ls400 and they just don't compare!
The G is way more fun but the Ls is way more reliable!
If you like your ls... keep it as it will go past 300k miles with no problems!
If you want the g as a sports car... well i would get a 370z... they are even more fun!
I have to say that the service with infiniti is far better than the turn your noise up at me kind of racket that the lexus dealer gives you...

There is no point in selling a 15 year old car that is a runner. You won't get any real money for it and since it is perfectly useful, you're better off using it as a beater, and having a second car that can be your baby. I am open to both the G37 coupe and sedan. I was set on the coupe but I just saw the sedan last week and I was impressed, at the tastefulness of the refresh, not to mention they're cheaper.Tampa G35 Sedan 6MT wrote:Just re-reading... sorry i am not a current Generation Owner lol...
y are you shopping for a sedan? I know i love mine! But if you have an Ls.. Do you need a sedan? Or are you looking to get rid of the LS?

I'm afraid I may be a bit too tame for your tastes, as I am looking for Journey in automatic. You can't drive a manual in LA, it's pointless and the streets here look like Fallujah, which will destroy your suspension and tires if you go for any sport or performance package. I took a picture of this last night on my way back home. This isn't some side street in the hills, this is Sunset Blvd.Tampa G35 Sedan 6MT wrote:Yup... That is why i bought a G sedan...
Oh and don't let the coupe guys fool u... the Sedans are faster.... (this is fact)
I would keep the Ls since it is free... and they are only going to give you very little for it....
Let us know when you pick up the sedan.... But Please tell me you are getting the Sport pack with the Big brake kit! =)

DO these cars come with that self healing paint?zozoka1212 wrote:My 07 needed new grill with the pitting issue. Also the plastic part needed to be replaced around the door switches. They replaced it with an imporved one. No issue after.
My 08 needed a new grill with the pitting issue. Also the day/night switch broke on me. Got fixed under warranty. No other issue on them other than regular maint.
I live in LA and looking carefully at the G37 coupe. Know anything about South Bay Infiniti? Going there today.gatomsn39 wrote:I'm afraid I may be a bit too tame for your tastes, as I am looking for Journey in automatic. All cars have these issues! Infiniti is MUCH better than some...even more expensive german marks!Bocatrip wrote:Although many of the problems of the early G35s have been resolved, Infiniti as a whole suffers from many fit and finish issues. Once the miles pile on, so do the rattles. The M forums have quite a few discussions in this area as well.
Sorry bro I do not, but to me they are pretty much all the same. You have to conduct yourself in a respectful manner and I think there will be mutual respect. For the most part, I think dealers know that the "information age" has leveled the playing field, and they are willing to move inventory at or near cost (new cars), especially in LA, the most competitive car market on the planet. There are probably 6 dealer within 20-30 miles of there. Coupled with the state of the economy, don't settle for anything less then exactly what you want.buddyrough wrote:
