I plan to go with an S13. I think it will be much easier to just get one with an SR20DET already in. Would you agree? I am looking to spend between $3500-5000 on the car. I don't care how many miles are on the body, but the SR20DET needs to have relatively low miles. It also needs to have good results from a compression test.

Should I go with a used SR20DET S13? Or just get a cheap KA24 and stick an SR20DET in myself (this way I know the SR20 wasn't abused). What do you think?

do it yourself, I bought one swapped already and wish I could do it over. I would also go ahead and replace gaskets and water pump! especially if you get a red top

To awnser your question you cannot guarantee the SR wasn't abused before it was pulled. Either way it's a good idea to have it rebuilt once you get it..

Second off, wrong section. Post this in 240 Gen.

All SR20DET's are junkyard motors. The only guarantee you'll have is buying from a reputable seller. Don't buy pre swapped cars. You cannot verify the quality of the swap.

Exactly, thats what i did and lets just say, "I foocked up." This is the time where "what can go wrong, will go wrong" One day you'll be pulling 0-60 in some 4 seconds and the next you'll be pulled by a tow truck off i-80.

i would buy a shell and then get a front clip, or like they said a place with good rep.
