i was sitting here wondering as i was reading through some posts, i have no idea why, but could a ka24de be converted to a small carbed motor? i'm not sure what the benifits would be if any, just if you could make a completely mechanical motor out of one, with no ecu or anything...it would be original...just some thinking

i wonder if you would have to fabricate completely original parts or if you could just modify the manifold to have one sit on top of it...

i'm tryin to decide what i should do with my car, i really want to build a motor, but i dont think i can get any kind of swap in it, so i'm considering building a ka for it, but i can't seem to find many aftermarket internals...am i just looking in the wrong places? or is this a problem with ka's??

I had a hard time finding internals for my ka24e also, but arias makes a piston and rod set that i have in my car. check nissanmotorsports.com also I think they have some stuffIf you guys google custom intake manifolds for the de or whatever their is some good setups of people who have converted to itb's which seem to be a good step towards carburation

check with old school Datsun guys

there are way more of those 510's and others running KAE's and DE's with carbs and ITB's........

I personally like SOHC in a swap.. why? the accessories and pulley system.... 1 belt per accessory........ cleanest looking motor when stripped down... no A/C compressor? No PS pump? no clutch fan? no problem....

people with DE's are forced to make custom brackets etc if they want to get rid of some of the 240sx accesories

The only carb setup that is going to provide any sort of an advantage over the factory EFI system is dual sidedrafts. These are not cheap, your looking at 700-1000 for an appropriately sized, good working used set. The manifold is either diy or $600+.

Here are some setup on ka24e and de, with a couple ITB's setups as well.

Edit: I take that back, appropriately sized individual-bodied (non-dcoe type) sidedraught carburetors (Mikuni/keihin) would also work well. Properly tuned/jetted of course.
