Would anyone know the difference between curb weight vs. gross weight?I have found only curb weight in kg. not in gross weight to compair the weight of the vehicle.

Gross weight on U.S. Q45 (97-01) shows (4893 Lbs.)

Jdm spec:

Curb weight on PY33 with 2.5L (1550 kg.)Curb weight on MY33 with 3.0L (1570 kg.)Curb weight on FGY33 with 4.1L (1700 kg.)

Can anyone figure this out in Lbs.? Thank You.

gross weight is the weight at full capacity... Meaning its the weight of the car with a full trunk, 5 passengers and so on...

basically its technically the maximum the car CAN weigh.

curb weight is the car basically as it rolls off the assembly line... spare tire and jack installed, everything else is ready to go, except I think that curb weight doesnt include gas... Gas can add 150+lbs.

Thank you for the info.

I was looking to upgrade the suspension to lower the car and most of the JDM company (ie: Tien, Espelir, Insurance) application chart offers for MY33 and PY33 but nothing for FGY33.They fit but weight difference is about 450 to 500lbs. ( I think )I'm still doing the research to see if going over the weight of 500 lbs. can effect the performance of the springs. If worst comes to worst I might have to considering the air runner.

The VG30DET are almost as heavy as the VH41DE by virtued of the iron block and extra busst harware on the former.

But I would definitely check the spring rates as a lot of the JDM stuff is for show and not go. When one is reducing 5.5" of suspension travel to 3.5", the spring rate will have to increase substantially to prevent bottoming.

Thank You for the info. elwesso.

I have figured out the difference of the weight from 1570 kg to 1700 kg.It's about 287 lbs. difference, So like you said it shouldn't be an issue.

actually the VG30DE series motors are quite a bit heavier than the VH's.... by at least 100lbs or more.
