First let start off by saying I am new (have had this account for a while never done much on here). Hello to you all

I am going to do a rb20 this winter/spring. I will put a front mount, walbro 255(with z32 filter), clutch, turbo back 3inch, mk mounts, and electric fans on it when i drop it in. My biggest question is, can I expect this motor to be dependable for a dd?I was also wondering how much power should I expect with this setup?I also see a lot of talk about oil pump problems on rbs. Is this a problem in stock form or does it become a problem when you make more power?

I really dont want people to reply with dont waste your time, or do this motor. I know what I want and it is a rb(would like a rb25 but dont have the funds for it).

thanks for all the info.

welcome 1st off,

the RB20 can be a very reliable motor depending on the condition it is in when you first receive it. If this is going to be a daily driver for you i would recommend replacing the gaskets, you can buy a full gasket kit from our friend Ricky at http://www.rawbrokerage.com/

if the stock turbo is good (i.e. no shaft play, oil leaks/burn-off's, etc) then you shouldn't worry about replacing it right away, as long as you keep the boost between 12-14psi. If not then I would recommend upgrading to a stock RB25 or a single stock RB26 turbo.

If you have any other questions regarding this engine I(and most every other frequent user of this site/thread) suggest you use the FLASHING SEARCH BUTTON found at the top of every page throughout the forum. You can most likely find an answer to any question you might have regarding the swap, troubleshooting, etc.

Happy New Year! I hope this helps you on your path!
