OK people, I have a very cool 90 Q that I love (It totally hauls butt). It does not have a cup holder. I want a cup holder. The new cars have some quite cool cupholders cut in to the center consoles and such (Audi's). I would like to fabricate some sort of clean array that would accommodate my wish. Do any of you geniuses have a master plan to share. Is there an existing solution? Do that latter Q,s have cupp holders?

Thanks in advance (Liken the new site)

Cup holders are dangerous to your wallet as there is significant non water proof electronics under the divider from the ashtray back to the rear of front seat.Remember the warranty was void if you spilled something in the car back in 1990 so cup holders just encourage people to be w---reckless and eat in the car.

We have repaired lots of 90 and up with spilled coffee the $500-$1500 charges makes some people understand.

Dennis, you crack me up!Anyone who's seen the interior, complete with wooden cupholders, know's what I mean.

I've been looking for a good cupholder for this car since I bought it. It's just a pain in the a**, not to have at least one. . .

I tried to live without a cup holder but I must have my cup of joe during the morning commute ... so I picked up this adjustable Spill Master "Euro Sr" cup holder (around $5 at Target) and screwed it down just behind the CD changer controls in the center console on my 91 Q. It does require that you must be careful that a shorter driver doesn't adjust the seat forward with the armrest down and a drink in the holder. I would prefer something more elegant, however this has proven to work well for me, and really doesn't look as tacky as you might think. I'll try to find an accurate picture of it or take one of mine.

I realize there is some risk involves with the window and CD controls just forward of the holder, but after a couple of years I have not had a spill yet (knock on wood, or should I say plastic in this case).

I'm not sure why someone hasn't realized that the REAL solution to this (besides not drinking in your Q) is one of those door-mount cupholders. No danger of spilling on the console, but also not as ergonomically handy as the console mount.

Had the door-mounted cupholder in my 68 GS - cost me 49 cents at WalMart. Just don't forget it's there when you slam the door....SPLASH!

I agree ... I've tried the door mount holders but found that although less likely to cause damage with a spill, they are more likely to spill. I shot a picture of my console mount Spill Master ... sorry that it is not the best picture. ...Mark

this link is the same shot, but of higher resolution

Yes I have wooden cup holders but to my memory they have never held a cup more than once/twice in 9 years. Keeps all my junk from sliding around.

I used to drink my Breakfast Dr. Pepper till I spilled it in a quick stop. A home Expresso machine might work just as well you could have a Double Triple Shooter [6 shots] as you left.
