cup holder

ok so i let my sister borrow my car for a week and when i got it back the cup holder cover would not open all the way. After trying to play around with it i found out she dropped a key in the crack and that is whats blocking it from opening all the way. Is there anyway i could take out the lid to remove the key and put it back in?

Whack the area a bunch until the item blocking it settles down into the crack such that it doesn't block anymore.
