I don't understand how you guys are getting 32 - 40+ mpg. It makes no sense to me.
I'm not a hot-rodder, but I don't poke along either. Every day, I travel 100 miles on the highway at 75mph, and another 18 miles in town between 30-40mph. According to the Cube's computer I'm averaging 43mph and 28.4mpg. I also log my mileage at every fill-up through Gas Cubby on my iPhone. According to that, I'm averaging 26.78mpg which matches almost perfectly with my Scan Gauge II.
I've had my Cube since new. It had 50 miles on it when I got it back in January. It's now June and I have 11,620 miles on it, so I have had plenty of time to try many different driving techniques, including many different shift points. No matter how I drive, I get pretty much the same mpg.
All of this typically adds up to somewhere between 270 to almost 300 miles per tank, depending on when I gas up. The most gas I have ever put in was 11.5 gallons, but is usually around 9.5 - 10.5 gallons.
