to start off i have an s13 with s13 blacktop in it. I noticed today that my coolant temp sensor gauge in the cluster reads fine, until i start picking up rpms, When im driving or into the gas the cts sensor gauge will drop, or bounce around, When you engage the clutch and let the rpms drop it goes back to normal. Anyone have any ideas or have encountered the same problem?

Also, I have been running pretty rich, and lately if i light throttle up from about to 1 until 2k rpms it kinda stutters bogs or misses(hard to tell which) so that was another reason i think it may be on its way out.

You should probably replace the sensor. When they go bad, they tend to cause the A/F ratio to enrichen.

but would that also cause the irractic temp gauge readings, and the idle to have a slight hesitation only from 1 to 2k rpms? Thats whats really eating away at my head. lol

I don't know what I was thinking earlier since the gauge and ECU use different sensors.

Your gauge sensor sounds like it's on its way out.

as for the hesitation, it could be from a bad ECU temp sensor, it could be from a bad O2 sensor. It could be from a MAF plug that is loose. Also, a boost leak can be a culprit of that too.

But I would check both the temp sensors first.

i checked the maf, as for the ecu temp sensor(2 wire plug if i remember correctly) wouldnt it be throwing code 13? boost leak may be possible but doubtful. I will investigate further and let you know what i find.

thanks for the quick reponses hijacker. If you think of anything else lemme kno.

Dash temperature sensor != CTS sensor used by ECU.
