I purchased a 92 coupe with a bad radiator and it ran like crap. I have since replaced the radiator and checked the engine light. It pops code 13 witch is the coolant temperature sensor. My car won't start and won't even jump start.

Any ideas? It turns over but slowly which may be a bad starter. We tried to jump start it and still nothing.

Thanks, Daryl

Well a new coolant temp sensor is only 20 bucks from a place like advance or autozone.

I replaced the sensor and still nothing. I am getting fire to all of the spark plugs, just checked that too. It cranks over but doesn't start.Any other things I should check?

Hmm, make sure your battery terminals aren't corroded and that you've got good grounds connected. Otherwise since you replaced the temp sensor, battery is fine, alternator is ok, you're getting spark and fuel, my suspicion would be the starter then.

if the ect sensor is bad , it should still run (rich&rough) but wont go in close loop, tc lock up, etc.

are you getting fuel?

Is he getting fuel? I'd pull the rail and check for fuel, or do a pressure test, or something of the sort. If not, check fuse, then voltage to the pump, etc...

Also possibly ignition timing? If it has always ran like crap and now won't start... Perhaps you could mark where the distributor is at and try adjusting it to see if that helps.

Also, pretty stupid, but verify firing order. I've bought an inline six that ran surprisingly well with only two wires in the right spot. Never hurts to check.

You have a 92 and got a CTS from Autozone???????

How and do you remember the part #???

They show the 89-90 CTS for my car which isn't right at all.

Oh, and to contribute to the thread.......

I had to advance the timing on my 300z to get it running enough to get it home. The problem ended up being that the timing belt was off by 4 notches on the right cam. Though, 240's have a chain, not a belt, but it could've jumped if the tensioner broke. That'd be a last resort though.

I just looked on advance's website. It came up with quite a few different sensors. The one I looked at was the oem cts, which was like $20.11. I think this sensor is the ecu sending sensor.

Yeah, you should definitely check your timing. If it's out of wack, it can make the car very hard if not almost impossible to start. I also assumed since he checked for spark, he checked for fuel too.

I will check the timing and the fuel.

I checked the firing order and replaced the battery terminals with new ones.

the CTS part number is a borg warner WT5000 I believe.

I'll keep you guys informed, thanks for the replies.
