Ok I'm Trying To Find A Way To Play CS (CounterStrike) But I'm A Noob When It Comes To Computers.

My Question Is I Tried Searching For The Most Common Version Which You Can Play Online 1.6 I Think. And Some Steam Thing Came Out So w\e Download Thinking CS Would Already Be In It And It's Not And You Got To Pay "$9.99" To Download It.

Is There A Way I Could Download It For Free Or Demo, I Just Wanna Play Online. Thanks In Advance...Yea I'm A Noob...

It's been a while since I played CS. However, it's not a free game. You have to purchase it through steam or at a retail store (short of illegal methods). You are given a unique ID which identifies if you are trying to use the same copy on more than one computer at the same time. It is also used to ban you should you cheat.

Someone else who plays CS still or has played more recently may have to chime in here, but I would speculate CS: Source would be more commonly played online now. I'm sure there are still many hanging on to the old builds, but I would expect they are a smaller group.

Ironically, I just found my copy of CS. I am tempted to install in on my PC. I'm probably rusty as hell.

DO EEEEET! I finally ended up contacting Steam late last night because of all the CS buzz on here recently, and after 1.5 years of doing nothing on my part, one half day later I have my hijacked account back. I just finished installing CS, and now I'm installing Source and CZ since the douchebag who hijacked my account was nice enough to register those.

Type like a normal person and I'd give you a link to where you can get CS 1.6. Though how long you could play it online is iffy. Steam finds out in a few weeks usually these days.
