I have a brand new 2011 Nissan Versa 1.8SL HB (just got it last night), and decided to try using the cruise control on my drive into work this morning. I got it up to the speed I wanted to maintain, pushed in the button and the light came on, but it just decelerates. I tried hitting the "CANCEL" button thinking the person that drove it from Steven's Creek to Elk Grove set it at a different speed, and nothing. I even tried holding in the cruise button for 10 seconds, and still it won't kick in. Am I doing something wrong? It seems it should be pretty straight forward. Please tell me I don't have to take my brand new car in for service.

To set the cruise control you have to use the lever above the "cancel" button after you push the button that turns on the light. The bottom button only turns it on; the top lever actually engages it once you are at the speed you want.

The On/Off button turns the entire cruise control system on and off. To use the cruise control, make sure the CRUISE light is on (if not, press the On/Off button). When you're at the speed you want, move the lever above the Cancel button down (to Set/Decel) to set the cruise control speed (this will cause the SET light to come on). To deactivate the cruise control, press the Cancel button or hit your brake. Hold the lever up (to Resume/Accel) to increase the cruising speed, or down (to Set/Decel) to decrease (if you tap the lever up or down, you'll go faster or slower by about 1 mph per tap). You can also resume your previous cruising speed by moving the lever up (to Resume/Accel), but note that you can't do this if you've turned the cruise control system off since your last cruise, since this resets the previous speed.

the text around the buttons tells you which does what.

Thank you, everyone. I'll give it a try this afternoon. I'm sure it's just user error. :facepalm2
