This may be a dumb question but....does using the cruise control help you save gas?

Technically no. The best way to save gas is to not use any electronics.

But if your foot causes you to speed up and slow down too much then cruise would be better.

On a straight level road with no traffic . . . likely. It'll keep you from speeding up and slowing down (and despite the underpowered engine I still find my speed inching up when on the highway). And if there is traffic cruise can be annoying when you catch up to people going slower than you are and have to tap the brake [or hit the off button] until you can pass them and reset -- but it is but a minor inconvenience.

Hilly or mountainous areas? Not at all.

Bike. It's quicker and uses less energy.
