actually u are referring to the automatic speed control device system, not cruise control. and it could be many things:switchcontrol unitactuatorspeed sensorvacuum pumpvacuum pump relayvacuum switchvacuum tankelectrical release switchesthe harness

does the green light come on in the dash or do u get nothing at all?

Check the pedals as well for the pedal switch grommet. If the grommet breaks off (my girls break switch pedal grommet just went out and I noticed her cruise switch grommet was missing as well) then the switch wont engage.

Itll always stay open as there is nothing pressing the switch in. The switch is pressed in when the clutch / brake pedal is in the rest posistion (if the grommet is there), and is released when either pedals are pressed. This tells the cruise to shut off, for saftey of course.

But if the switch isnt pressed in (missing grommet or foot on clutch or brake), then the CC system also wont activate.

So check that as well...

With mine I have to pull up on the clutch slightly before it'll go on, the switch isnt long enough or the pedal isnt coming all the way out. No big deal. That might be your problem. Check that out....

Check your cruise control cancel switches on your brake and clutch pedal and make sure they're screwed in so that the button is pressed in when the pedals are up.

Over time, the switches screw their way out and then it'll keep sending cancel signals to your cruise control thing so that it won't engage.

The cruise control switches are shown in ASCD (Automatic Speed Control Device) in the diagram

if i remember correctly, the switch is green and the blue one is the brake lamp switch. you might have to adjust both on the brake pedal. there is only one switch on the clutch pedal.

are you sure the switches are pressed down completely when the pedals not touched?

are you talking about the green cruise light on the gauge cluster? if the gauge cluster light engages when you set coast, then the switches are probably fine and you would have to look at the actuator and cable.
