When I purchased my V, the only car on the lot that had cruise control was the tricked out version, with CVT, sunroof, and satellite radio... god knows I couldn't afford it, it's my first new car. Wound up going with a 4spd Auto Versa S with power package.

I didn't realize exactly how much I miss cruise control . When I do a lot of driving, it's usually a 150 mile stretch between my home town and my college, lots of back roads, and with the V I tend to creep up in speed, this car doesn't let you on to how fast it's really going, just so slick. Has anyone attempted to install an aftermarket Cruise Control unit? Or talked to Nissan about having an offical Cruise Control unit wired in? I notice the V has all the dash lights for cruise regardless, so I'm curious to see how big of a problem it'll be to have it installed now.

Thanks

That was the main reason I went with the SL, but since then I've been spoiled by the other touches that came with the upgrade! And I even went with the CVT despite about 700,000 miles of driving manuals, because of the rated difference in mpg. I'd driven other cars with aftermarket cruise, and none were great. (Especially compared to the rock-solid cruise the V has...)

There ought to be a way to get the Nissan cruise added, though, as even the service manual refers to using it with manual, A/T and CVT, and A/T isn't available in the SL. The parts they refer to are the ASCD Steering Switch, ASCD Brake Switch, ASCD Clutch Switch, Stop Lamp Switch, Electric Throttle Control Actuator and ASCD Indicator. (ASCD = Automatic Speed Control Device)

The Versa doesn't need as much in additonal hardware as some cars do, as the throttle is already controlled by a servo. There are aftermarket kits available, but not sure how well they work.

Talked with the dealership, they don't do it, but they work with a company that can.

Getting a price quote, and she's gonna call me back, doesn't do anything to hurt my warantee either.

Ugh.

They want to charge me $650.00 for it after parts and labor.

Looks like I'm gonna have to go without it for a while.
