Cruise Control speed adjustments.

When I am using the cruise control and go up or down hills thecruise control adjusts to keep the corect speed but the transitionis not smooth at all. It is sort of like continually hitting the throttle and then the brake untill the correct speed is attained. It does works fine straight and level.I adjusted the cable per the FSM and this did not help.Any suggestions where to go next would be appreciated.

A bit of WD-40 on every moving part you see. Don't try to wash it down the river, just get some lube to it. Give it a few minutes, and what you can wipe off with a paper towel isn't doing anything anyway, so clean it off. Easiest first step.
