I installed a new steering wheel and it has a horn and two naws buttons on it

ok better get this outta the way, just in case alright, anyway.

I have an '89 coupe with an auto transmission and since installing the wheel I no longer have cruise control. It's not that important, but it's good to have it if I want. Not connecting those buttons would just make it seem halfassed. Besides I have never seen it done before.

Looking at the pegs on the column here:

I know one of those pegs is for the horn and the other two for the cruise control. but there are 3 buttons for the cruise control. I searched and didn't find much about the cruise control specifically.I looked at the wiring diagram and I think what I am thinking is correct. The set/accel button does as it says, and the coast/resume button does as it says...So the question 1) does the cancel button short out the other two buttons and cancels the cruise control? If so, question 2) which peg is which on the column?

This is my DD so I didn't want to rip the cruise control apart yet.

If you still have your old wheel take a gander at the back of it. there should be that ring thing with the 3 gold circles, you know the ones that touch the pegs. See what wires come from what buttons, and where they attach to the ring thing. If it is a circuit board then just follow the circuits. You could also relocate the buttons to somewhere else, like on your steering column.

Yep, but I still wanna make use of the buttons if possible. I'm tearing apart my steering wheel now.

Dismantled the wheel and figured it out, posting pics as a reference.I had to take every freaking screw out of it to get to the little buttons.Cancel = YellowResume/Accel = RedSet/Coast = Blue The horn is also attached to the RedThe rings areand hey the whole ring comes off too, maybe I'll keep that and attach it to the new hub instead. I'm gonna wait till I can work on it in a garage, too effin cold out right now.

Yes, put the ring back on the hub. You need it. My hatch's steering wheel was messed up so I decided to switch it out with my coupe parts car steering wheel, which had cruise. I thought that even though one was cruise and one wasn't, the rings would still line up to the posts. Wrong...I had to take apart the back of the wheel just to use the non cruise ring. Don't really know what this has to do with your situation, but it involves the rings and changing steering wheels lol. Maybe one day I'll put cruise on my hatch, so the buttons actually serve a purpose lol.
