cruise control problem

Does anybody know how to troubleshoot the cruise control. On my 93 240 the cruise control light blinks if I hold down the ON switch and the SET steering wheel button at the same time. In other words it is not working properly. Is this is simple fix or is it just f****d?

I found my problem guys. The rubber stopper for the A.S.C.D cancel switch on the brake pedal fell out. A part that costs $1. Thank God!
