I am looking for some help with my cruise control. I am new to 240's. I just bought a 1993 convertible. Everything works except the cruise. The power on the dash comes on, and that is it. I am very appreciative of any suggestions for a solution.

I believe the previous owner took the steering wheel off at some point, since it was crooked when I bought it. I took it off and aligned it, but it did not affect my problem.

Still an auto. I saw in a previous forum to check the vacuum line. I cut the end off to make a new connection, but that did not help.

One thing that I can think of is a control module. It's under the hood near firewall on the passenger side. You should get one from a junkyard and try. When CC worked on mine, green light on the switch blinked and CC would't engage. I had to turn off and turn on again to make it work. Someone said my control module could be bad.

Sorry, I thought small box under the hood was ASCD unit. Anyway, that's the one you should swap it out and see.

Hey

Had the same thing when I purchased my '93 vert - after a couple hours of searching turns out to be a small rubber plug was missing on the brake pedal CC cutout switch which made it appear that the brake pedal was always depressed !! Replaced the plug CC worked

I actually had that thought and looked over the brake pedal for some sort of switch, but didn't find anything. Where is the plug you are describing located on the brake pedal?

The switch and connector should be on the front of the brake pedal mount.

If that is the issue though, the light in the cluster should probably blink when you try to set the cruise. That is what mine is doing (hoping my manual brake pedal swap will fix it).

Ditto on the rubber/plastic grommit under the brake pedal. Your brake light pedal grommit will go next and require the same fix.

I'll look into this, but my cruise doesn't work after the manual swap. hijacker told me how to make it work, but never had a chance.
