There is an actuator for the cruise control on the firewall(passenger side real tight to the corner. It's probably failed. Mine does the same thing but I've decided to just drive without it.

also look for the vaccum connected in ^above stated location. mine was weathered and wouldnt maintain enough pressure. just cut the edge of the hose so its new like, and reattach. cured my problem, might help yours. its located on the passenger side near the firewall, looks kinda like a big eye drop haha.

interesting, because mine will work one day, and the next day it won't work. the following day, it will go back to working again. it doesn't bother me enough right now to try and figure it out though.

pic doesnt work. just follow the vaccum hose coming from the throttle/intake area, you'll see where it connects to.

hey man if you have a 5 speed what you need to do is pull the clutch pedal away from firewall (towards you) with your foot after you shift. Mine used to work then not work all the time.

Then one day i realized its cause my clutch spring doesn't push the cltuch pedal out all the way where its supposed to sit.

Just thought i'd help out. Let me know if this helps...

mine just went out yesterday, and my symptoms are the same as the OP's.

i noticed a crack in the line that goes to the throttle, but didn't think this was a vacuum tube meant to hold pressure.. can somebody verify this?

meanwhile, i'm gonna tape up the crack and see what happens.

anybody else? i can't stand not being able to take my foot off the pedal a couple times in my commute.

i'm sure it's something simple, just never worked with cruise control before.

ok... like the guy two post up said. there is a small sensor the clutch has to be touching in order for the cruise to turn on. if you have a 5 spd pull the clutch pedal out toward u till u cant anymore. then try to hit the steering wheel button. if u touch the pedal at all after that it usually turns off.

if no one has said it yet check your cruise motoreasiest way is to pull the connection look at the wires going to the connection a green and white wire are the ones you care for now. run a jumper wire to those wire connectors and if the motor picks up then you can narrow it down a bit. dosent matter which is positive or negative on this test

mine dosent work and i found it to be the brushes werent making good contact inside the motor

it took me about 5 months of owning the car and asking people I knew to figure it out I finally called the guy I bought it from and he told me about pulling the pedal up with your foot. Has worked ever since
