Hey all, my cruise control isn't working. How can I go about checking this problem to get it going? The girl I bought it from didn't say anything about it but it wasn't working for her either at the time. My car is a 5 spd if that helps anyone. Thanks all.

check the cruise actuator cable under the hood. common to come loose at the throttle cable mounts. does the cruise light come on when you push the button to turn it on?

yeah the cruise light does come on when I press it but the buttons won't work, I'll check what you suggested and keep it updated.

if the light flashes it is under the hood where your problem lies. check the cable as mentioned above. if its ok check all your connections to your actuator . if all appears ok either you have a wireing problem to the unit or the unit it self has gone bad. not common for the actuator to go bad though

I'll check for the light flashing. I briefly looked under the hood to see if I could find anything, but I don't know much about CC's. the cable is attached to the throttle and doesn't seem loose so the problem is somewhere in between. I'll investigate more. Where is the actuator?

ok I checked everything under the hood and there is a big plug on the front side of the actuator that was coroded and real nasty, I am going to clean it today and the other connections and see if that helps out, although I think the problem is with the main switch b/c the light won't even flash now... it won't even cut on

shift your problem may be one of the switches on your clutch or brake pedals. hamburgler your prob is most likely that corroded plug

WOOHOO my cruise control works now! I followed advice from a guy on Zilvia...here is what he said -

try pulling up on the clutch pedal with your toe. sometimes it doesn't come ALL the way up, and that won't let the CC turn on cuz there's a microswitch at the top of the clutch pedal too.

I realized I did the same thing and tried it this morning, sure enough thats what it was!
