Since betting my 03 q45 the cruise hasn't worked. When I hit cruise - the nav screen says "warning cruise" then says to click to find the nearest dealership. I took it to the dealership and they said the laser cruise unit needs to be replace and costs over 2K!!! This is ludicrous. They also found like 4k of other repairs I'll post on later! Remeber the movie the "money pit". Any suggestions where I might find a used laser cruise unit (already checked ebay, and the parts forum here).Thanks.

Did you not visit the dealership every 90 days [oil change] so that they had ample time to find EXTRA warranty work before the warranty expired?

Every time I slipped $100 advance bonus they found at least $1,000 in defects.

Why you you complain when a $50k car needs a few thousand even $six.

Why they depreciate 75% in 6 years.

I bought the car used just recently on ebay. It was described as perfect which it's obviously not. Anyway, back to the topic - if anyone knows of a place that sells used parts (like the cruise unit) I'd appreciate it. I'm obviously not going to spend $2200 to get it through the dealership.

Just like the retaurant I work in San Fran, $100.00 tippers( over and above the 20%) got the f...ng best service ever.

Never thought techs would appreciate the extra's, but of course they would.

GREAT IDEA

Alexander, where do you work???? For totallyjacked, what is the mileage on you 03'. you still have some warranty unless you have really high miles so maybe you can score an extended warranty for 2k or so and get everything fixe. What is your mileage?

http://www.car-part.com for used parts. Not sure how it would be listed - but you can use it to locate the car. I'm not sure how many 03 Q's had the laser cruise control.

Did you try cleaning the laser? Mine came on recently so I got some napkins from a fast food joint and wiped it off - works great now.

Well perhaps everything was working perfectly when the former owner offered it for sale ? ? ?

If it so happens that the only thing required is a "window cleaning" then I would be suspect about doing business with your dealer. 2200 bucks earned with a few restaurant napkins, potentially. Surely dealers or employees in the repair shop know about this cleaning issue?

There are lessons to be learned here. Cars are not perfect and dealers will shaft you ? ? ?

Yes - I've been shafted for sure - the list of things wrong with the car when it arrived is very very long. Thanks Marksport for the directions!!
