Cruise control comes on in my J but will not work

I have only had my J a few weeks now and have started working through the gremlins as I know an incredible car lurks just below them...

Today I went to use cruise control for the first time. I turned it on via the dash switch (the light came on), then hit set while traveling about 55 and the cruise control idiot light came on and started flashing, when I let up on the gas pedal it started to decelerate.

Multiple presses to the Set button had no effect. I turned the CC off at the dash switch and back on and tried again, same behavior as before. I tried multiple times, all with the same behavior.

Have you guys seen this before?

As I have learned, the best thing in this case is if you have the service manual, just go through and start troubleshooting......

use the manual troubleshooting guide. my guess is either a broken actuator, or the relay.

good luck. just to mention ,you will definitely need a multimeter to measure voltages and resistances.

i just checked and it looks like some of the diagnositcs require the consult, so you may be forced to bring it into an infiniti dealer (just to have them run the tests). whatever is wrong, it should be easily repairable, just hard to pinpoint.

Ill check the J service manual sometime tomorrow afternoon when I get the chance.......
