Now is the time for me to decide what is going to happen with my drift/track car. The CA is out and I'm debating on my next step. I can either A) drop $1500 into the motor and ecu to make it capable of more power (looking for 250hp or more if possible) or B)sell it and go 1jz. A 1jz swap is going to cost a lot of money, I know, which is why im looking into building up what I have. Need to weigh both options before I go any further.

I was wondering if anyone had any helpful advice on what I could do with $1500. My motor has basically bolt on mods (sr t25, fmic, 3" exhaust, spec stage 4 clutch), regasketed 5k miles ago. I have been looking at pistons, injectors, headgaskets, nistune, cams, cam gears and I need some help plotting this out. Looking for 250 HP or more with minimal turbo lag and its gonna need to be able to take a beating lol. Thanks!

I would think 1500 would be way more than enough if you are just rebuilding...... even with a good condition SR T28(what you are going to want at a minimum for 250WHP)

450s or 550 injectors(not expensive, and easy to pick up used)

FMIC, DP, TP, 3In CB......

cams are going to cost.... less you shop around and get lucky on japanesse yahoo auctions.

as for pistons..... easily in that budget.

nistune is alright..... I would going megasquirt..... going to need to ask around for more on that.

A 1jz and 5spd(which are a trick to find) is going to cost more than the itial cost you are talking..... and it is the same age as the CA..... so it will most likely need a freshening up as well.

SR T28, 440-550 injectors, NISTUNE and mild cams. That's within your budget.

I would take the CA apart before i decide what I want to do...... only real way to know if rebuilding it is going to be plausable.

theres nothing wrong with it, it runs great! its been a pretty tough motor thus far but im at the point where i need more power. i had the CA in my daily but I pulled it, sold the shell and am beginning to put my drift car together.

also, anyone know of an australian CA parts dealer? I remember one site a while ago but cant seem to find it...

after cruising through FRsport.com i came up with this short list

s15 spec R t28ARP head studs (not sure if i NEED these)Cometic HG (or this)poncams + cam gearstiming beltnistune...

total cost just around 2k, which is doable.. i can get injectors cheap and i already have an n60 mafs sitting around..
